I hope everyone enjoyed their summer break! As we approach the school year I wanted to send out an update about our off-season plans and to touch a little on in-season scheduling:
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions regarding off-season activities or the upcoming season. Best, Sean McMahon Boys Lacrosse Head Coach Stonewall Jackson High School Monday & Wednesday will be the last two practices before next week's 10-day no contact period begins. Let's get as many of our lax players out this Monday & Wednesday from 6-8 pm. Bring your sticks/gloves/ helmets, indoor and outdoor shoes, athletic apparel and water. On Monday, Coach Hogan will be snapping some photos for the website to keep firing up the squad. And don't forget - Coach McMahon is keeping track of off-season efforts and hopes ALL players will earn incentive t-shirts ASAP during the pre-season!
Players and Parents~
I hope you are all well and enjoying your summer! I wanted to provide a quick update about our off-season plans this summer. Summer workouts will begin on Monday July 8th from 6pm - 8 pm at Stonewall. Players should bring their sticks/gloves/ helmets, indoor and outdoor shoes, and athletic apparel. We will improve our stick skills outside first in order to take advantage of the sun light and will then lift weights after. We will workout Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 pm - 8 pm from 07/08/19 thru 07/31/19. There is a 10 day "no contact" period beginning on August 5th. We will have another off-season t-shirt incentive this year and attending the summer workouts is a great way to make significant progress towards earning the shirt. I also want to encourage families to sign up for the Commonwealth Team Camp! We have two players signed up so far and I am sure that they would really enjoy having more teammates at this wonderful camp. This camp is designed for players that are newer to lacrosse. This camp not only provides wonderful lacrosse instruction but it also an excellent team bonding opportunity. If you have any questions about if your player should sign up for this camp please feel free to reach out to me directly. http://www.capitallacrosse.com/summercamps.html Lastly, this part is for the parents of our recent graduates. If you would like to be removed from this mass emailing list please let me know via email. Alright it’s time for me to write the post that no coach looks forward to writing. Unfortunately the Road Warriors season ended last night in the regional quarterfinals. Last night and this morning, I had to constantly remind myself of one of my favorite quotes: “comparison is the thief of joy”. I will admit that at times I have stumbled into the thinking trap of comparing our season to others. In an effort to grow stronger than this thinking trap I am going to type out my (many times edited and shortened) “thankful” list.
Thank you all for your likes, shares, positive posts all season! I am such a lucky guy and I am forever thankful. Love, Sean CELEBRATING A GREAT LAX SEASON! RSVP TODAY (TO MRS. LECLAIR) FOR OUR END OF THE SEASON BANQUET!5/15/2019 1st Team
