The inaugural ONE PRIDE - Lions Raiders Lacrosse Alumni Game can only be described as EPIC. An emotionally powerful and poignant tribute to two very special brothers we lost in 2020, our pre-game dedication ceremony and game honored the lives and legacies of Adam Ward and Nathan Williams. Through the unveiling of a memorial tree, we placed a dedication stone to forever mark the life of our coach, teacher, mentor and friend, Adam Ward. In addition, a commemorative sign, donated by the Ward family, will be hung in a place of honor in the weight room. An initial check of $1,500 was presented to the Williams Family to support the Nathan Williams Scholarship Fund. Another check will be presented thanks to the outpouring of donations and INCREDIBLE generosity of our URHS community (Huge shout out to the Verrilli family for their $500 gift!)
A special thanks to the following people who helped make the day such an outstanding success: Presenters/speakers: Coaches Sean McMahon and Justin Orabona, Chris Hintosh, Charlie Shier and Rory Millette; Photographer: Pat Hogan, Videographer: Terry LeClair; Press Box gurus (clock & announcer): John & Kenny Miller; Organizers and volunteers: Pat & Julie Hogan, John & Carma Becker, Sean McMahon & Justin Orabona & Stephanie LeClair.
And behind the scenes, a huge thank you is extended to URHS for its absolutely outstanding support for all of this. Dr. Nichols, Kevin Turner, Jen Ehrhardt, Lisa Holloway, Theresa & John Miller, Brian and Nicole McCarthy ~ your care, commitment and compassion mean the world to us all.
We are grateful to our guests of honor, Don & Ruth Ward, parents of Adam, Dave & Betsy Williams, parents of Nate, and Faith, Harry and Teddy, wife and twin boys of Nate, for being a part of this day and allowing us to honor their loved ones, our loved ones, through this event.
And finally, thank you so very much to our alumni - and all families and friends - for coming out, playing, watching and supporting to make this day so amazing. While Team Ward outscored Team Williams (12-6), clearly, we all emerged as winners.
