Hello all!
I can't believe that we are already well into August! I wanted to send out another email to everyone to make sure we are up to date as a program. Tomorrow night a recruiting seminar will be hosted at SJHS and all high school athletes are highly encouraged to attend. The seminar will be held in Stonewall's auditorium and begins at 7:30 PM. Click HERE for further information on this event. This is a friendly reminder of what our off-season schedule will look like. Summer workouts begin on Monday, August 13th at 6:30 PM. Summer workouts will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6:30 PM until 8 PM. I am working with Mr. Turner about establishing a workout schedule once school starts. We will most likely have workouts immediately after school and will occur at least three times a week. Summer Workouts: Monday August 13th 6:30 PM - 8 PM Tuesday August 14th 6:30 PM - 8 PM Thursday August 16th 6:30 PM - 8 PM Monday August 20th 6:30 PM - 8 PM Tuesday August 21st 6:30 PM - 8 PM Thursday August 23rd 6:30 PM - 8 PM School starts August 27th VEL player registration is currently open and we need players! Dues are currently $185 and prices will go up on September 5th. Again the goal is to have our own team however we need at least 21 registered players. We do encourage fall sport athletes to participate in VEL with the understanding that priority will go to a fall sport event if it conflicts with a VEL game. Please save the date for the Fall Brawl which is scheduled to take place on Saturday November 17th. This is a one day 7 v 7 tournament. Finally the "One of Us" new student orientation is scheduled for August 23rd from 3 PM - 6 PM. The lacrosse team will have a booth and we would love to have as many players as possible representing our great program. Boys, you as current players are the program's best recruiters. You all have worked incredibly hard throughout your high school careers to establish a reputation of being organized, hard working, and successful young men and are often viewed as role models for others. Coach O and I will be in attendance and will provide jerseys for players to wear while working at the orientation. For those who have not heard my personal story about this orientation event, I attended my freshman "One of Us" orientation in August of 2005. I had played baseball for 10 years and assumed that I would play baseball for Stonewall as a high school athlete. The boys lacrosse team dominated the athletics booth area and naturally drew a lot of attention. Seeing so many current players give up one of their last days of summer to represent their program showed how important this program is. I quickly gathered as much Stonewall Lacrosse information at this event and the rest is history. I cannot wait for off-season work to begin! It will be a busy but productive off-season and our success as a program will be determined by everyone's participation. As always please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Thank you, -- Sean McMahon Boys Lacrosse Head Coach Stonewall Jackson High School
