Dear Parents,
Just a few important points as we approach Spring Break: JV players will have practices when we have varsity home games. There will be NO JV Practice over spring break or on days varsity has away games. Varsity players will have practice this Saturday (3/19) from 10am-12pm. Monday, 3/21: We will be hosting Highland here at SJ for a Varsity game at 5:30pm. Game had to be later in the day in order to get refs on short notice. Tuesday, 3/22: We will be playing Annandale at their place for a varsity game at 11am. Varsity players are to arrive at SJ by 9am sharp. Bring snacks. Varsity players will have practice on Monday, 3/28 from 9am-11am in preparation for our game at Forrest Park that Tuesday. I urge all the boys, especially JV guys, to find time over break to hit the wall, pass with a teammate, and RUN! Captains may contact teammates for optional practices over break. The weather is supposed to be phenomenal. For those of you traveling over the break, have a safe trip and enjoy! Adam Ward Hi all:
If you haven't already - please visit the website www.sjraiderslacrosse.org that our own Brenden Hogan set up! He did a fabulous job and it's something that we can all use for reference from here on out. He's got game times/results listed, a Coaches Corner, and will add the information for meal sign ups so if you forget later in the season you can go here to remind yourself of your date. Please refer to our Boosters and Volunteers Tab to see the most recent meal schedule. THANK YOU parents that have already volunteered! We still have a few games open so please check your schedules and let me know what works for you! MEAL TIMES: Please be at the school to set up for HOME games by 3:30 pm and by 3:00 pm for AWAY games. The players eat in the first floor cafeteria which you can access from the back by the trailers. You can even park (temporarily) close to the door while you unload. Please let your player know via text when you're close as someone will need to open the door and the boys will come out and help bring stuff in. Your son will also need to get the key to the faculty storage room from Coach Ward where our LAX bin containing plates, napkins, disinfectant wipes and plastic utensils is located. There are NO serving utensils in there so if you need any for what you're serving, you'll need to bring your own. If it's your turn and you notice we're low on something in the bin - please let me know ASAP so I can get it restocked. NUMBERS: Please be prepared to feed between 33-35 people between players, coaches and team managers. I usually bring extra because these boys definitely have appetites -- especially before a big game! MEAL SUGGESTIONS:
We have had innovative (brave) parents in years past that have reached out to local restaurants to provide donations for meals. Even if they do not flat out provide the whole meal, many (if not most!) will give you a discount if you tell them it is for our local school. You can tell them that we will acknowledge their business on our team website to promote them. HOMEMADE SUGGESTIONS: I know the boys love pasta, fresh salads and fruit , etc. Pretty much anything that is going to give them energy but not really weigh them down or have them running to the bathroom :) Also, anything that will keep warm in a crock pot is great as we don't have access into the kitchen to warm up the food. Honestly, these boys are so happy to be fed -- they're pretty easy going on what you put in front of them - haven't seen a one of them turn a nose in 3 years :) ALLERGIES: Do we have any players with any food allergies? Please let us know ASAP so we can accommodate them in meal planning. Hunter LeClair can not have wheat or gluten (which is in everything just about). He's good about knowing what he can/can't eat but even if it's a sub , he can't just pull the meat off and eat it. If you're providing the meal, just let me know what you're thinking of serving and I'll have something for him that's similar and if possible, get it to you the evening before because I can't get to the school. DRINKS: Part of providing the meal is to have water and Gatorade for the players/coaches/managers as well. We do bottles so that we don't need to have plastic cups to worry about. RECEIPTS: Remember to save your receipts and turn them in to me. You'll be reimbursed up to $300.00 from the team meal account. Please let me know if I forgot anything or if you have any questions. Go Raiders!! Stephanie LeClair Good Morning!
I hope you all are as excited about tonight's scrimmage as we are! This is going to be a quick email to touch base on a few things and I'll be sending a separate one regarding sign up for team meals. Mondays and Thursday games of THIS WEEK will start at 7:00 pm for Varsity -- 5:30 pm for the JV team on Thursday GAME TIMES: As of now, all HOME games will begin at 6:00 pm because we do not have a JV team playing before us. AWAY games will be either 6:00 pm or 7:00 pm and I will let everyone know as soon as the times are locked in. I have attached the current calendar that does have some game times posted on it. MEAL TIMES: for HOME games meals will be set up @ 3:30 pm and for AWAY games set up is @ 3:00. Between players and coaches plan on feeding between 33-35 people. IF you have a particular day you already know you need, please send me an email so I can lock that in for you. The game time for Spring Break against Annandale is already taken. GAME DAY DRESS: The Captains determine what the dress will be each game day and tend to switch between khakis/button down and the shooter shirts. They are in contact with all players through a message board and they all do a lot of communicating this way. Please let me know if I've missed something or if you have any questions I haven't answered. Have a great day and bring your Raider Spirit and Pride tonight!! Go Raiders!!! Stephanie LeClair To all of the returning players from the 2015 season -- welcome back! To all of our new players -- a huge welcome to our 2016 season of SJHS lacrosse! The LeClair family is very excited for the season and we hope everyone else is as well. The team looks great and already seems to have a nice chemistry going. A quick note: Thank you to the Grant family and Klein family for immediately stepping up and volunteering to provide a meal for the boys before their scrimmage on Monday and Thursday of next week. For those families new to the fold, this entails preparing the meal and delivering it and setting up at 3:30 pm Monday and Thursday afternoons. Also, we'll need water/Gatorade for the players to drink. I'll make sure the lax bin is stocked with paper plates, napkins, and utensils. We have 28 players plus Coaches to feed so count on about 30 -31 people to feed. Remember these seniors are big eaters too :) If anyone has an allergy, please let me know so we can pass it along. Hunter L can't eat gluten so I'll pack food for him or I can swing something by on Sunday night if you'd take it in for me :) Please remember to save all receipts -- you'll be reimbursed up to $300 for the meal but I must have receipts for the records. Stay tuned for another email which will ask families to sign up to take a turn providing a meal. Ideally we will have 2 families per meal. We're also doing one more Spirit Wear sale - mostly for the new players that missed the last one. We have a different design and vendor as well. The store opens TODAY and runs through next Friday March 11. The link is: www.gobiglacrosse.com - Click on the "SWAG" button in the upper right corner and then the Stonewall Spirit wear tab. We only have a few items listed but we wanted to give our new players an opportunity to sport some SJHS Lacrosse pride :) Please look for a more detailed email this week to finalize meal sign up for the rest of the season for both the Varsity and JV teams. Thank you for your support of the SJHS lax program Go Raiders! Stephanie LeClair |
