Raiders Lacrosse Mid-Season Report Out from Coach McMahon

Hello all!

I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the lacrosse season so far from the coaches' perspective.  At this point in the season both the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams have competed in five games.  The Varsity team has a 4-1 record and the JV team has a 3-1-1 record!  While both teams have a winning record, this coaching staff views success in how our players grow and develop as young men.  This year the coaching staff has stressed the importance on focusing on the process of becoming great at their crafts rather than focusing on the results.  All of the coaches are incredibly proud of how these young men have come together through hard work, love for the game of lacrosse, and most importantly, love for their teammates.  Friday night’s games at Colgan HS were great examples of how the boys played with love while focusing on the process of being a great teammate.  This season has presented unique challenges mostly due to the turf construction at Stonewall.  Both teams have bought into and exemplified the “Road Warrior” mentality especially this past week when having to play games on back to back nights.  As we approach the later half of the lacrosse season the coaching staff will be focusing even more on the “little” details.  Additionally we will challenge these young men to continue to surrender the idea of having control of the results by completely focusing on the process of becoming the best son, brother, student, lacrosse player, and young man they have the potential of being.

It is truly a joy to be the Head Coach of this program and I cannot adequately express how much I appreciate the coaches on staff and the young men I have the privilege of coaching.  While I am very proud of the successes this program has earned at this point in the season, I am looking forward to how both teams continue to come together as we approach our district opponents and the playoffs!
